The SJIB was saddened to hear of the death of Rab Sherry, who passed away earlier this month.
As well as being an electrician, shop steward and Regional Officer for Unite the Union, Rab was an ardent football supporter, following his beloved Dunfermline Athletic.
Former SJIB Director Newell McGuiness said: “I worked closely with Rab for many years when he led the Trade Union side on the SJIB National Board and it was always my pleasure to work with him.
“He was a formidable opponent with a huge heart and integrity and fairness flowing through his DNA, who was liked and respected by everyone he came across.”
Fiona Harper, The Secretary of the SJIB added: “Rab will be missed but will also be remembered for his loyalty to the SJIB National Working Rules and a pride in our industry which shone through.
“He and I spent a lot of time working together over the years and it was always my privilege to spend time with such a fun-loving and kind man who also had great integrity.”
Jock Simpson, the Chair of the SJIB said: “Rab was a fine man who was well liked and respected by all who came into contact with him, especially his friends and colleagues here at the SJIB. We will always remember him with fondness.”
Rab, who lived in Dunfermline, is survived by his wife, Margaret, and son, Dominic.
