This is for the management and delivery on behalf of the SJIB of the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment for individuals working in the Scottish Electrical Contacting Industry.

We do not accept photographed applications, please either scan and email to us or alternatively post to the SJIB, please ensure that the correct postage is applied

ECS Employer Guidance

The Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) became affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), as part of a drive to have the industry workforce carrying the appropriate skill cards.

Guidance for training providers

All exemptions for the ECS health, safety and environmental assessment are granted at the discretion of the SJIB and JIB, operating through the ECS Steering Committee. This document provides guidance regarding exemptions and how to apply for one.

List of aproved exceptions

Applicants who are able to show they hold certain valid and current certificates are exempt from taking the ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment.
