ACA Eligibility and Booking Process

In order to sit the ACA, you must have:

  • Been working as a graded Electrician for a minimum of two years.
  • If your apprenticeship started prior to 2008, you will have had to complete the distance learning and enhanced college week during the third stage. If you are unsure, please check with Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT).

If you meet the above criteria and believe you have gained enough site experience, you should complete a copy of the Statement of Experience form and send it to Approved@sectt.org.uk.

SECTT will review your ‘Statement of Experience’ form. If there is anything outstanding, SECTT will advise you of what is required.

Employed Applicants

If everything is satisfactory, SECTT will retain a copy of your Statement of Experience form for their records and send a copy to your employer together with an Employer Declaration form and the ACA application form. If your employer supports the application, they will complete and return the Employers Declaration form and the ACA application form to Approved@sectt.org.uk who will make arrangements for you to sit the ACA.

Self-Employed Applicants

If your Statement of Experience is satisfactory, SECTT will send an ACA application form directly to you. This should be completed and returned to Approved@sectt.org.uk.
